Any explanation as to why Apple would abandon FCP as it was?by michael rouse - Café LA Re: End of FCP?? - 12 years agowhat software would you recommend moving to?by michael rouse - Café LA End of FCP?? - 12 years agoHello I have been away from editing for a year or so and just about to step back into some stuff with FCP 7 and considering upgrading but I'm sure as you are well aware there has been a major shift. I have only heard bad reports about FCP X from many editors and producers (all of whose work I am respectful) who are deeply disappointed. I imported a few clips from my iphone (via iphoto), created a short 2 minute time line an then tried to export to Quicktime Movie and the .mov came out full of glitches, strange colours and one shot was replaced by a lime green blank screen. Changes speed of video but audio remains unchanged....the audio was cleaned up and reimported as a .wav Would that make it unchangeable on the time line?? Thanks, Michaelby michael rouse - Café LA Compression and Toast - 14 years agoHi, Two questions: 1. Hello..I have 18 uncompressed QT files (episodes) (standard def) each around 7 minutes (around 10G) that I wish to send to a distributer. I have used Toast (10.0.6) to compress these files on to 18 DVD's which is far easier (and cheaper) to send by mail than a hardrive. The output looks quite good to me though I do see minor degradation. The distributer is to useby michael rouse - Café LA Re: couple questions - 14 years agoOk thanks..I downloaded from archive.org and it was the only format available (mp4) , so with Tom W.'s advice I imported, rendered , exported as QT and then reimported...seems to be doing fine.. Michaelby michael rouse - Café LA couple questions - 14 years agoHowdy..On 7.0.2. Two questions: 1) I am scrubbing (?) with JKL and there is no audio as I speed or slow down 2) I imported and .mp4 and everytime I move it..it needs to be rerendered.. Thoughts? Any suggestion on the best export setting? Thank you, Michaelby michael rouse - Café LA Re: De-Interlacing - 14 years agoThanks Ben and all for all...I'm looking into suggested options... As I looked I found through Effects/Video Filters/Video- an option to De-Interlace Also in exporting to Pro Res HQ there is a an Interlace check box... Any comments on these options? Thanks, Michaelby michael rouse - Café LA Re: De-Interlacing - 14 years ago1.I am supplying the distributer a quicktime on DVD to put up on their site or stream or whatever they choose to do with it. I am hoping to deliver (compress) the series (18-7 minute videos) on DVD's as opposed to creating 1:1 and having to send off a hard drive 2. I chose 640 X280 because it seemed more realistic to the original material. THe 720X480 seemed slightly morphed. Final question (for me) in this string: If you were to convert the 7 minute timeline to a 35mg file (for best A/V results) what specific process/software would you use?
