In fact before you buy any camera make sure you are buying from an authorized US dealer or you will not get any warranty, unless you want to ship your camera to Japan for service. Phil, I think this is a bit misleading as the film to video telecine transfer isby Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: Help on 35mm workflow.. - 17 years agoThe obvious question to ask your director is does he have access to a 1/4" tape machine that has a lynx or some other way of resolving the sound to video speed. i.e. doing a pulldown of 0.1%. Finding these systems in working order is a bit harder these days as most people just pay the bit extra up front and have the audio synced during telecine. As far as the frame rate to edit in, well thatby Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: Batch capture with free run TC - 17 years agoThe problem lies in your original capture. Because you did a capture now, you were able to do it without the need for a pre-roll. Now you are trying to batch capture from your log and you can't do that without the required pre-roll. This is one of the main reasons why you should always do a log and capture from the start.by Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: Batch capture with free run TC - 17 years agoWhen you captured 3 weeks ago did you "log and capture" or did you do a "capture now"? Give a detailed explanation of your original workflow and it will make it easier to diagnose your current problem.by Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: Sound Compressing - 17 years agoI wouldn't consider analog cassette tapes a "high quality" format. As to a way of digitizing, if you're looking for the best possible quality, then get a hold of a decent cassette player with xlr or 1/4" balanced outputs. I would then digitize into a sound app that has a choice of codecs to use. Do a test and pick which codec you feel offers the best quality, verses file size.by Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: timer on FCP - 17 years agoMike Watson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The first thing I do when I start a project is > save the project file -- this starts the clock > ticking. There is NO WAY your files are DVCProHD if the entire 43 minute sequence is 100MB. A file of that length, at that codec and frame rate should take up about 32 GB of hard drive space. That is not taking into account any un-used footage in the project. Either you are mistaken with the file size or with the codec used to create the file. It's all jumpy. I am working with very compressed > files. Less than 100 MB for a 43 minute show. 100 MB for 43 minutes? Chances are it is only at 6 framesby Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: audio equalization help? - 17 years agoUnfortunately having the ADR recorded close mic'd is going to make it difficult to match your production sound. What I would suggest is to start with the EQ. Use the 31 band in FCP. Roll off everything below 150hz, then boost the high mids a few db. It's hard to give an exact setting without hearing the outgoing and incoming tracks. Also adding some reverb may help but again it's going to be a maby Frank Nolan - Café LA Sony PVM 20M2U Trinitron monitor - 17 years agoI am Selling a Sony PVM 20M2U Trinitron monitor that is in Excellent condition. Just do a google search for timecode calculator. There are a lot of them available for free or a few dollars.by Frank Nolan - Café LA Re: 23.976 sequence and total running time - 17 years agoMike you are on the wrong track, kind of! Yes 30 minutes of time is 30 minutes of time regardless of the frame rate. However 30 minutes of program on a 29.97fps timeline if started at hour 1:00:00:00 would not end at hour 1:30:00:00. In this case your 30 minutes of "clock time" would actually be up at around 1:29:28:06 on the timeline timecode.
