FCPX Backup Folder Error - 4 months agoI'm working in the latest version of Final Cut Pro with the latest version of the macOS. All I want to do is change the location of the library backup files from the default "movies" folder to my mac's "documents" folder. I've followed the very simple instructions five times using the files>library properties>Choose commands and the new folder I wish to use is chosby BeyondFilm - Café LA - X ProRes vs .mp4 or .MOV for acquisition. - 7 years agoThe new Lumix GH5 records 10-bit 4:2:2 internally at data rates of 100, 150 and even up to 400mbps once the firmware updates kick in later this year. The Atomos Ninja Inferno records 4k 10 bit 4:2:2 in ProRes at a MUCH higher data rate. (for an additional cost after purchasing the GH5 camera) My question is this: will recording Atomos video at 4k ProRes LT give me better quality .vs 400 mbpsby BeyondFilm - Café LA - X Motion 5 job - 7 years agoHey there, I'm a video producer/FCP editor in need of an Apple Motion 5 person to do a quick video bumper job. It's pretty easy. I bought a Motion 5 template and just need to insert my own logo and change some text. I'd rather pay someone to do this work instead of learning the software myself. Unfortunately, they are not the same length and it will have to be done manually. Ugh! I saw an amazing software at NAB that synced clips together with just a few clicks. I think it was in the $200 - $250 range. Has anyone heard of it or have a recommendation? I need suggestions on the right software & hardware to do so. I'm working in FCP 7 (for many years) with DVD Studio 4. My understanding is that DVD Studio will not author Blu-Ray. The final Blu-Ray dvd's my client needs are very simple. Five, 3 minute videos on 1 disk with a simple 1 page menu for navigation. They work on PCs using windows 7. They say that they cannot get the clips to open in Aftereffects or Premiere 5.5. (Sorry I do not know the exact version of 5.5) I too have a PC running windows 7. I can open and work with the files in AfterEffects CS 5 (V10.0.2.4). I also have Quicktime 7.7.1. It all just wby BeyondFilm - Adobe Premiere Pro CC HDV Capture Problems - 13 years agoHello, I have two Sony HVR-V1U camcorders. I'm using FCP 7.03 software. Ever since I can remember, I've had trouble digitizing HDV footage. Using the camera as a source deck, the video constantly creates several clips out of a single take without rhyme nor reason. A two minute clip will end up being 3 pieces of video with short gaps of missing video. Dave's posting from 7/21 did the trick. XD Decode plug in allowed the native HDV movies to be viewed in Windows QT, Premier & After Effects. I tried a test with an HDV file by exporting it out as a ProRes movie. That test was seen in the native Windows QT without the need for an additional plugin. No matter how big it is, I use every bit. I'm curious about NAS drives with a gigabit ethernet interface. Is anyone using such a device for digitizing HDV footage over a network with FCP? I know from the data sheet that it will show up on the Mac desktop under shared drives, but will it show up as a scratch drby BeyondFilm - Café LA Dubbing Timecode w/ HVR-V1U iLink - 15 years agoHi, I have 2 HVR-V1U cameras and need to dub the tapes I shot this weekend. I've connected the iLink cable and the video and audio transfer fine, but the TimeCode from the source camera to the record camera does not. The record camera always defaults to the preset timecode even if the "TC Make" is set to "Regenerate." I shot with a Sony HVR-V1U camera at 1080i without using the "Progressive" setting. Once I had my selects in a FCP timeline, I added the time code reader filter and set the "distortion" to -33 under the Motion tab in order for the 16x9 image to display properly on a standby BeyondFilm - Café LA 1080i HDV format conversion - 15 years agoHello, I'm shooting with a Sony HVR-V1U camera that shoots 1080i. The client wants an Online QuickTime movie in 720p 30. Is it safe to tell them "no problem, I can convert it to 720p in FCP without image loss." Would it help if I shot the 1080i with the Sony's "Progressive Mode" setting turned on? Any feedback or export settings would be appreciated. There are varitations in each camera's color and exposure. The variations are noticable, not disastrous.
