FCPX Backup Folder Error - 4 months ago
I'm working in the latest version of Final Cut Pro with the latest version of the macOS. All I want to do is change the location of the library backup files from the default "movies" folder to my mac's "documents" folder. The new Lumix GH5 records 10-bit 4:2:2 internally at data rates of 100, 150 and even up to 400mbps once the firmware updates kick in later this year. The Atomos Ninja Inferno records 4k 10 bit 4:2:2 in ProRes at a MUCH higher data rate. (for an additional cost after purchasing the GH5 camera) My question is this: will recording Atomos video at 4k ProRes LT give me better quality .vs 400 mbpsby BeyondFilm - Café LA - X

Which 4 disk, 4TB Thunderbolt 2 RAID would you purchase? A) Four, Sandisk 960GB SSD's, striped RAID 0, with a read/write speed of 1500/1350 or B) Four, WD Black 1GB 2.5" HD's striped RAID 0, with a read/write speed of 550/500? Hi Folks, I'm ordering a new 27" 5k iMac this week with all the upgrades including the 4.0GHz i7 processor and ADM 4GB video memory graphics card. I'm finally jumping from my 2010 27" iMac running FCP 7 to this new machine running FCX. My question revolves around the internal HD choices: 3TB Fusion Drive or 512 SSD? I have lots and lots of separate audio and video files that need to be synced. Unfortunately, they are not the same length and it will have to be done manually. Ugh! I saw an amazing software at NAB that synced clips together with just a few clicks. I think it was in the $200 - $250 range. Has anyone heard of it or have a recommendation? Hi All, I need to author and burn 1080 video to Blu-Ray disks. I need suggestions on the right software & hardware to do so. I'm working in FCP 7 (for many years) with DVD Studio 4. My understanding is that DVD Studio will not author Blu-Ray. The final Blu-Ray dvd's my client needs are very simple. Five, 3 minute videos on 1 disk with a simple 1 page menu for navigation. Can't open ProRes 422 in AE or Premier CS5.5 - 12 years ago
I have provided footage to colleagues in India. The footage is ProRes 422 (HQ) files. They work on PCs using windows 7. They say that they cannot get the clips to open in Aftereffects or Premiere 5.5. (Sorry I do not know the exact version of 5.5) I too have a PC running windows 7. Hello, I have two Sony HVR-V1U camcorders. I'm using FCP 7.03 software. Ever since I can remember, I've had trouble digitizing HDV footage. Using the camera as a source deck, the video constantly creates several clips out of a single take without rhyme nor reason. You suggested I render out a ProRes 422 QuickTime movie from the HDV native timeline. Got it. The pixel aspect of the native HDV in my timeline is 1440 x 1080. Jon, Thank you for your response. Can you help clarify the Compressor settings that will give me the best results? I've always been a little confused by the frame controls. The manual says that for best results I should put that on automatic which results in the button being highlighted in black and the individual controls grayed out. I shot video in HDV using my Sony HVR-V1U camera. We shot 1080i with the progressive mode enabled in the menu. We edited the video in native HDV. My client wants a standard definition DVD authored and I'm trying to figure the best way to do that. So far, the results have been less than great. Hello, I recently purchased a new iMac 2.93 Intel Quad Core i7 computer. Today I purchased the FCS 3 update software to upgrade my FCP 6.0 etc currently running on my old G5 dual 2ghz PowerMac. Hey Everybody, Thanks for your input. Dave's posting from 7/21 did the trick. XD Decode plug in allowed the native HDV movies to be viewed in Windows QT, Premier & After Effects. I tried a test with an HDV file by exporting it out as a ProRes movie. That test was seen in the native Windows QT without the need for an additional plugin. Hi, I have 2 HVR-V1U cameras and need to dub the tapes I shot this weekend. I've connected the iLink cable and the video and audio transfer fine, but the TimeCode from the source camera to the record camera does not. Hello again, I also have a question about making a SD viewing DVD for clients from HDV 1080i footage. I shot with a Sony HVR-V1U camera at 1080i without using the "Progressive" setting. Hello, I'm shooting with a Sony HVR-V1U camera that shoots 1080i. The client wants an Online QuickTime movie in 720p 30. Is it safe to tell them "no problem, I can convert it to 720p in FCP without image loss." Would it help if I shot the 1080i with the Sony's "Progressive Mode" setting turned on?
