Mega Ditto's to CalDigit Rocks -- had a VR just stop showing up on desk - said corrupted directory in Disk Utilities - got out my handy Disk Warrior and with some CalDigit's excellent support, i created a temporary directory disk - copied everything to another drive - reformated and was back in business. Your best resume? Satisfied clients and word of mouth Web site - Google Ads (they work) - study how to get your name/site moved up the Google Search results by optimizing your site (Google it -- there are services that will help you or study to do it yourself) As for actual paper resumes -- not sure who reads them any more -- it's more "what's your web site, where's your reel?"by Andy Field - Café LA

It's a simple shape with an outside stroke filled with yellow then key framed to expand lengthwise with motion blur added in the motion tab. You can make this in motion using the b-spline tool and then key framing the shape to whatever timing you'd likeby Andy Field - Café LA

Go here:calibrated software email the developer (it's one guy) and he'll get back to you -- it's a great program that lets you edit and access MFX files natively in final cut or Quicktime without having to convert them. You likely have audio and video files mixed in there and you will have to combine the clips in Final Cut Browser sort them by timecode and they will come up as video andby Andy Field - Café LA

use it on my i phone - speak clearly and slowly (and sometimes just blurt it out) you can say comma, exclamation point etc..and it puts the punctuation in -- works great for me - but then I am a professional voice over guy too -so maybe that makes a difference :-)by Andy Field - Café LA

Has anyone used Dragon Dictation on the Iphone - it's amazingly accurate with a wide range of voices and speech patterns - yet Mac Speach (the desktop version) only works if you train it with your voice -- wish they'd put the i phone technology in a voice recognition laptop program -- the bane of our existence logging tapesby Andy Field - Café LA

Agree Derek - but hard drive storage is very iffy -- just pulled something off the shelf from 3 years ago on a firewire drive we'd archived -- drive died - unrecoverable...we'd also backed up to Optical DVD rom's -- (10 of them) and that saved the dayby Andy Field - Café LA

Here's a better way -- get Toast -- it will make a set of Data DVD's that you can span as far as you'd like -- create one bit BACKUP disk in Toast - then make it a MAC only DVD Rom -- and start feeding your machine DVD's - it will span large files with one index file to reload anyting you want in future - works even with Blu Ray DVD roms - very nice way to back up - Andyby Andy Field - Café LA

See if you can get Disk Warrior to let you do a temporary mount -- if so -- run out and get another drive and use that temporary directory it will create and move everything somewhere else - this happened to me a few weeks ago - I asked Diskwarrior to rebuild the directory and it couldn't but it could temporarily mount it and that saved the day -- but go ahead and let it rebuild the directory --by Andy Field - Café LA

A few questions to help solve your problem 1 - you used video from your canon digital camera - what format does that camera create - did you bring in through log and transfer? Did you use mp4 clips (not advised - better to trans code to a pro-res format) Was it HD and outputted SD? 2 - the bluish gray line -- you might want to select that section of the clip - go up to the render pulldownby Andy Field - Café LA

well it was an engineering firm - talk about convoluted -- originally shot for National Geographic on HDCAM -- then dubbed for them on to HDV - ingested into their PC via microsoft's media center -- but good news - they're shipping us the HDV tapes - problem solved -- Thanks for your adviceby Andy Field - Café LA

We just received a disk of this pain in the behind format -- DVR-MS -- it's some Windows Media Center only format - I've searched high and low on the web and there doesn't seem to be a way to convert it to QuickTime editable format short of finding a PC to do it....any ideas? I've tried VLC (it will play it it but no luck converting with it yet) Thanks Andyby Andy Field - Café LA

do you mean set the intensity of the color on the scope? -- if so there are two tiny controls at the top left of the screen (choose just vector scope from the pull down menu so it fills that screen instead of the four boxes) look in the upper left hand corner of scope - there are two hard to see "knobs" click one or the other one controls the brightness of the guide lines - the otherby Andy Field - Café LA

just purchased and used PHYX - we were having nightmares trying to fix some very poorly shot DV Chroma Key fotage (uneven background - blond hair blown out against green - you name it - it stunk. Primatte - eh - not great AFTER EFFECTS -- Keyer - better still not there FCP's Keyer and BCC keyers -- nope PHYX actually got us as close as you can get - with adding some Colorista mattes to thby Andy Field - Café LA

This thread went off the rails somewhere - the original question was - why are textures and other parts of Live Type suddenly broken (they're broken often in plain old Leopard too - not just the new improved Snow version ...and how do you get all the good parts of LiveType to work in Motion (preset text motion effects -- big library of motion and texture backgrounds) We've had the same problby Andy Field - Café LA

Look at this crash warning - has anyone gotten this? I didn't even know I had Google video/talk installed unless it's automaticly put there if you install the Chrome browser -- and not sure how to get rid of it Picture of Crash warning PS - how do you insert pictures in these posts? try Data Rescue 3 -- don't toss anything else or add anything to the drive you want to recover from -- it's worked for us a few times - takes an enormous amount of time -- you may have to let it run for nearly 24 hours to find what you're looking forby Andy Field - Café LA
