Re: RED into FCP - 15 years agoThanks gents ... It is for an EPK- therefore the delivery is to SD DVD or some sort of compressed "web i edit". What I am gathering from tutorials and you guys is: 1- take some headache medicine 2- back it up before beginning 3- for my purposes- a mixed format timeline out to promo DVD - log and transfer, edit, then export to appropriate format (mpeg 2 or 4 e.g.) 4- seby TroyChristian - Café LA RED into FCP - 15 years agoSearching the FAQ and googling. First attempt at bringing RED footage into FCP. Can anyone send me a link to what I need to know to get up and running? I have files directly from the camera on a Drive and have yet to even try to import- so I m brand new to the world of RED... so a link to a tutorial would be swell. Thanks! LaCie? Third awaiting data recovery out of SIX. Also, the G-Drive guys were on it in helping me to recover data. LaCie? They don't do recovery at all ... only replacement. I would concur with the avoid LaCie idea ... Troyby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Export Size / setting - 15 years agoHmmmm I had better check into that .... Thanks for the tip!by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Export Size / setting - 15 years agoI have found though, that the extra steps for some reason makes the "crunch" in compressor so much faster as it doesn't have to change the HD to SD. Not sure why- but it sure seems to quicken the process believe it or not... Also, I have yet to find software that is smart enough as I just did that test and it gave me a 4:3 version ... so I think you have to get into settings, etc....by TroyChristian - Café LA Export Size / setting - 15 years agoWorking in FCP 6.04 10.5.5 Quad I cut in 720p 60 (mostly graphics). I am trying to export for plasma tv screens (16x9) but with Standard Def DVD player. I want to make sure that my image fits the screen properly with the best resolution. I know this will probably be a roundabout way to get there, but the quality seems to be holding up. When I export as a AIFF Toast or iTunes quit due to unexpected error. MP3's work fine. I am exporting a master mix 44.1 to AIFF 16 bit. What am I missing? Thanks! Many many thanks!by TroyChristian - DVD Studio Pro DVD Studio Pro- works in DVD Player- not in computer - 16 years agoHi friends, I am having an odd issue that I can't figure out. When I burn my DVD, the project design (Menu 1 with buttons that point to chapters in one the one media file) works fine in a regular DVD player but the menu buttons don't respond when I try to navigate using a computer. My Compressor error reads: !Each target assigned to a job must have a setting and destination. Anyone know how to trouble shoot this? Thanks!by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Best result to Digibeta - 16 years agoYou might not wanna see it ... pretty controversial. I had choreographed a movie starring Parker Posey Chris Kattan & Malcom Gets (adam & steve). When the film company landed the rights to the film version of the 5th longest running off-broadway musical in history called - get this - Naked Boys Singing! (and it is for the most part just that). They called me to help. Wow... seen more nakby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Best result to Digibeta - 16 years agoA thanks to all. Shane you were right. After I got settings straight and exported then brought back in, it played out like a dream. 4 1 hour laybacks- no dropped frames. Is that a record? Dunno.... could be.... And Joey, I did end up speaking with AJA - and you were right also. Helpful and right there. It is safe to say that I won't start another unknown process until I speak with them first.by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Best result to Digibeta - 16 years ago>I suggested you call Aja Tech Support on Saturday (post #2)...you said it needed to be output >on Sunday (post #3). I export using current settings Reimported into the exact same timeline and still had to render. Then, once I clicked print to video, it re rendered to the tune of 2 hours. That just doesn't seem right to me. Is it re rendering because it has to re build each frame with black at top and bottom (letterbox for NTSC) Seems like "we ain't fakin' - a whole renderby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Best result to Digibeta - 16 years agoGotta present a tape today.
