Best Harry.by harry323 - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Am looking for a thread or an article telling me what I would miss from FCP if I go to Premiere - 12 years agoI'm hoping that one of you happy editors can guide me to a thread or an article which will tell me what abilities are not within Premiere but that I use all the time in FCP 6.0.6 - like the Motion Tab, key frames and the ability to easily make montages of multiple image panes, which I have to do a lot. I'm lazy and I don't want to download the Premiere demo version and fiddle around for days aby harry323 - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Running ProRes Lite on FCP 6.0.6 - 12 years agoHey, Strypes, thanks for reply. I'll get through my current job and try this out next week. Prepare to see smoke rising from La Crescenta. Harryby harry323 - Café LA Running ProRes Lite on FCP 6.0.6 - 12 years agoI have read on ANOTHER FORUM which will go unmentioned, that poor folks like me who are on FCP 6.0.6 can get ProRes Lite etc to work on their systems by downloading the appropriate package from Apple and using a little application called "unpkg" to unpack it and get at the Codecs. So I have done the downloads and I have the loot. But before I do this, I thought I'd better check wby harry323 - Café LA Re: OT-Old Day Editing Systems - 12 years agoAhhh ... D-Vision. Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Hard drive crash - anyone have luck with Disk Warrior or other program?? - 12 years agoI recently had an external G-Raid die on me (yet another - when will I learn?) There is a guy named Brian Cometa in North Hollywood. If he can get the data off your drive he charges $300. If he can't, there is no charge. It worked for me. His number is 818 358 8541. Suddenly the Vixia files are viewable from the desktop in the normal fashion by hitting the space bar and MPEG Streamclip accepts them. This means I can transcode, drop the frames to get from 30 to 24 and use the frame blending in one step. Thank you all very much for the advice. Best for the New Year, Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Log and Transfer - 12 years agoI've come to the conclusion that this Nazi file importing system is attempting to force me to use FCPX. So I'm doing that and am now filled with hatred. Grrr. I have to import it all in ProRes at 30fps and then re-transcode it to 24p. Boo-Hoo. Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Log and Transfer - 12 years agoHi there, I have loaded a bunch of files off a Canon Vixia to my Mac 8 Core. I'm on FCP v.6.0.6. Now I am attempting to transcode them to ProRes 422 (23.976p). FCP 6.0.6 doesn't appear to give me any other choice. And since the camera was running at 30fps, I wanted to have "frame blending" on as I normally do in MPEGStreamclip, but that doesn't seem to be an option. So I took tby harry323 - Café LA Re: Need stock shots/animation of human heart - 12 years agoThanks for the advice, everyone. Best Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Need stock shots/animation of human heart - 12 years agoYes. I see your point. No person in their right mind wants a camera stuck into their heart! I guess animation for the heart section will have to be ok, but I want to find some "real" shots of the inside of arteries. I have found an MRI of a working heart which is pretty cool. And have found animation of interior of arteries - but cannot find real arteries. Thanks for the responseby harry323 - Café LA Need stock shots/animation of human heart - 12 years agoHi there, I'm cutting an internet infomercial about human heart disease/attacks/etc. I need to find animation depicting the human heart and - if possible - live video shot inside the heart and the circulatory system which show plaque and whatnot. I have looked in Artbeats, Footageheads and have Googled but cannot find anything which is a library shot for sale/license. Best Harry-The-Idiot.by harry323 - Café LA Does Lion break FCP 6.0.6? - 12 years agoDoes Lion break FCP 6.0.6? Christoph-The-Magnificent, of CHV fame, told me a few weeks ago, that it does break it. But I read on (gulp) another board that it doesn't. I tend to listen to what Christoph says; and why do I want Lion anyway? Does it do anything super duper? I finally solved the problem by reinstalling Snow Leopard 10.6.8, FCP 6.0.5, Quicktime 7.6.6. and ProKit 5.1. Phew! They don't make it easy, do they? Again, my sincere thanks for your encouraging posts. It took me two full days of experiment but I got there in the end. Best Harry.by harry323 - Café LA System or possibly QT version problem. - 12 years agoHi there, You see before you a pathetic wreck. This is my problem: I have two boot disks - one Snow Leopard and the other is Old Leopard. I'm running FCP 6.0.6 and OS 10.5.8. Normally I run Snow Leopard, but suddenly I have a problem with HDV files which were created on a Canon XLH1 recording to a Firestore FS-C camera hard drive. Under Snow Leopard my project file (HDV) opened finby harry323 - Café LA Re: "An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie" - 12 years agoThanks, Derek. The difference is that the other thread is, as far as I understand, referring to capture or transfer from the camera to computer. I have already captured this stuff from a Firestore FS-C over the past 5 months. It is only now, after changing my settings for the last few days to do a ProRes job, that I come back to this and find that the files are unreadable. However, I'veby harry323 - Café LA "An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie" - 12 years agoHail, O Wise Ones. I've been working on a film shot in HDV. Then got I got a quick job in Pro Res. Then back to the HDV job. So I reset everything back to HDV and opened the HDV project only to find that some horrible corruption has occurred and, although the timeline is intact and the .mov files are still present and I can see their file sizes, they will not load into FCP 6.0.6. So I'll give it a shot. Once again, thanks for the reply. Harryby harry323 - Café LA Re: O/T Drive crash. - 12 years agoHey, Ben, Thanks so much for the moral and technical support. I'm prepared to try anything including the freezer trick, but I don't understand what you mean when you say: "then whilst still cold you stick in a HDD "toaster" SATA dock connected to another Mac" Wot iz dat? Harryby harry323 - Café LA O/T Drive crash. - 12 years agoI had everything backed up in triplicate - except this one: a 1TB internal Maxtor. It will mount, but neither Disk Warrior nor Disk Utility is able to unmount it in order to fix/rebuild or whatever. It won't let me copy stuff off it. I am also unable to erase it - if I could do that I could recover the data by using an "un-erase" program, I guess. Have you done any comparative tests, I wonder? I recall that a couple of months ago you posted that your tests revealed that Compressor did a much better job of transcoding than MPEGStreamclip. I have loads of stuff to transcode from HDV and H.264 (all 1080p/24). I'd appreciate your opinion. Best Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: 7D or 5D - 12 years agoHi dcouzin, You say: I don't know what harry323 is faulting the kit lens on, but it probably shouldn't be on sharpness. I found the lens unusable because the fit of the focusing barrel is so poor that it wobbles at least one millimeter from side to side. I called Canon and they said that this was normal. But it meant that when you attempted to focus, the image would shift from side to siby harry323 - Café LA |
