I trained on Avid too, and that is where the value of the keys became crystal clear. Everybody, from Larry Jordan on down promotes use of the keyboard as an important skill and a way to reduce mouse RSI. Because you're not going into a card like Kona2, right? That might require a blackburst generator going to your deck and the Kona. Connect the Video (Super) Out to your monitor and press the deck's MENU button. Start scrolling through to whatever the deck control listing is called on that model. I think it's Deck Control. I own this camera, I own these disks, I would never do this even on my tower. Suggest get a FireWire 800 PCMCIA Card for the CardBus slot (about US$80.00) to create a separate connection just for the disk. Other brands as well, shop around. Knowing your delivery format, find your image width in ScanGuide Pro, (6" look at the baseline scanrate of 320 listed for 100% width display (means it fills the frame width), and multiply that by 1.5. Same result. You don't even need to do that if you want to zoom in sharply to whole number factors like 2X, 3X up to 8X for HD 1080. With some expert advice we decided on DVCPro 50 aas an export codec, set at High and NOT best, which seems to fall apart-- maybe the QT team was dislexic and gave the Best data rate to Low. Anyway, that's why we recompress, we are downconverting and each strip needs to bve a self-contained 40-minute clip. I just did it so i know it works and works well. The idea is to synch up each of three screens and play each screen out to an LCD or plasma-- assume 20" 4:3 screens. I suppose we could do that. Should I feed the blackburst from the beta to the DVCAM or go directly from the Horita to the BETA? I was wondering if this was the capture issue. I think it's a combination of things -- like maybe we're not in E-E on the DVCAM? Most of it is being recaptured from DVCAM sources, so client rented an FCP setup with Medea fast SCSI drives and DSR 1800 DVCAM deck. So far so good. Now we want to add a borrowed Beta SP 1800 deck to bring in older sources. We don't want to disturb the rental house's Kona2 SDI from DVCAM to G5, that's working beautifully.
