Not registered? Click HERE to register now OS X and AVCHD - 7 years agoI am editing on FCP 7.1 on 10.8.6. Two questions. Can FCP 10.7.1 operate if I upgrade to LION? Next question. I have use of a Sony camcorder that shoots in AVCHD format. Can I bring these files into my iMac using 10.6.8? Thanks.by Delphinus - Café LA Time Code Generator - 8 years agoI put the time code generator filter on my 58 minute HD film (marking the in and out properly) but the time code is not accurate, as at the end it registered 48 minutes. Any suggestions? When I create the same movie in Apple Prores 422HQ almost all of the clips are dark ... some so dark as to be totally unacceptable. As I may have to submit this film to a distributor in Apple ProRes 422 HQ, is there someby Delphinus - Café LA ProRes 422HQ - 8 years agoHi All: When I create my HD FCP 7 movie in PHOTO-JPEG or H.264 it looks great. However, when I create it in ProRes 422HQ almost every shot turns dark and, hense, I loose a lot of detail, unacceptably so. In the timeline all the shots look good. Have youever had this issue before? FCP 7 MacPro Intel OSX 10.6.8 Thanks.by Delphinus - Café LA FCP 7 crashing - 9 years agoI am experiencing crashing with FCP 7, I have a 60 minute HD show and have some clips that are mp4. I understand these clips are hard on FCP 7 and may be the cause of the crashes. Also, even though I render the entire project, when it crashes and I re-open the project, many of the clips need to be re-rendered again. Very frustrating. ANy ideas why? Thanks. However, here's another problem that just popped up. Never had this problem with importing Photoshop files before. Perhaps you can suggest something. I created an alpha photoshop file RGB 8-bit, to use as rolling credits at the end of my show. The file is 200dpi and measures 6" x 35" (rolls from bottom to top).by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Extending freeze frame - 9 years agoNick: That was the problem. I had a jpeg at 300dpi, reduced it to 200dpi and the problem was resolved. Thanks much.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Extending freeze frame - 9 years agoI will jump on that right away. Thanks. One more question. What exactly doesan "out of memory" pop-up mean? I have tons of memory but I now get this when rendering.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Extending freeze frame - 9 years agoThat's the problem. I did that. I increased the duration to 2 minnutes, but when I import the image I still only get 12 seconds. Stumped! Do I have to re-start FCP to have it take?by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Extending freeze frame - 9 years agoSorry. Forgot to add: FCP 7 OSX 10.6.8 Macpro 2.16 GHz Intel Duo Coreby Delphinus - Café LA Extending freeze frame - 9 years agoHi all: I have never had this problem before. I am bringing in a Photoshop (alpha channel) scroll for credits at the end of a show which I have done many times. This time, however, when I bring the document to the viewer I get only 12 seconds. I have gone into the User Preference/Editing tab and designated 2 minutes. Then I click OK and re-import the Photoshop document, but it is still only 12 seby Delphinus - Café LA How to identify project timeline - 9 years agoWhen I open a project in FCP 7, how can I identify the Audio/Video setting of the project's timeline?by Delphinus - Café LA Disappearing clip - 9 years agoHere's one I have never experienced in fifteen years. I have a FCP 7 timeline and I backed up all the clips to a second harddrive. The startup harddrive crashed and when i replaced it with myh backup, all worked fine except one important clip was mising from the timeline. No problem, I thought. I went into the folder and it was missing, just not there. I went to the backup drive and it was gone tby Delphinus - Café LA Re: What format to use? - 9 years agoI don't have that option, at least in FCP7. It's strange. In the FCP timeline the clip looks great, but when I mark an in and an out, no matter what I use to make the clip (ProRes, h.264, PhotoJPEG) the resulting clip looks terrible. It looks like it's been shot through a fine screen and the colors are washed out. I have never had this problem before and I wonder if it is a result of the originalby Delphinus - Café LA Re: What format to use? - 9 years agoActually, the clip that came over Dropbox was titled BALCOMB m4v.mp4. What do you make of that?by Delphinus - Café LA Re: What format to use? - 9 years agoThe video came to me as a m4v file over Dropbox. I dropped it into a FCP timeline of HDV 1080p 24 and the clip looked great. But I wanted to break the long clip up into shorter clips, marking and in and out. But when I went to Export Using Quicktime Conversion, I designated Apple ProRes 422 HQ and the resulting clip was bland and had artifacts, like importing a VHS clip. Same with Photo-JPEG andby Delphinus - Café LA What format to use? - 9 years agoI have a FCP 7 project in HD and want to make a copy without any degradation. When I use Apple ProRes 422HQ the copy looks terrible. Would I get better results using Photo-JPEG or H264? If not, what? Thanks. Version 10.6.8 FCP 7by Delphinus - Café LA SD to HD conversions - 9 years agoI need to convert some SD video clips to HD for a project and I have no desire to insert expensive hardware into my MacPro to do this because it seems enormously complicated to do it myself. Are you familiar with a lab that can do this for me with the highest quality conversion possible? I cannot find any on the internet. Perhaps you all might know of one or two. I have software converters but thby Delphinus - Café LA Non-active selections in FCP 7 - 9 years agoHi all: I am instructiong a friend over the phone with FCP 7 setup but he has an issue I have never encountered before. When he launches FCP 7 certain functions are gray and not able to be activated, including HIDE FINAL CUT PRO, HIDE OTHERS, and QUIT FINAL CUT PRO. I have never run into this before and as he is 2,000 miles away I cannot get on his computer to figure it out. I dropped them into a FCP 7 timeline to edit them into selects but when I selected Apple ProRes 422 HQ, the resulting clips look horrible. For example, in the timeline one clip shows a seagull flying by and when I freeze that frame the seagull is one image. The jpeg was a chart I made in Photoshop, basically background blue and white lettering. When I brought it into FCP 7 it went terribly soft and blurry. The suggestion I had from Shane was to change the jpeg to a png, which I did. No change at all. Any idea what I am doing wrong? The first timeby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Bringing in jpeg, looks blurry - 9 years agoWM It is definitely fully rendered. Would appreciate any other suggesitons. I lay down a music track, save it, and at some point either it is replaced with another piece of music in my Browser, or what was the beginning of the piece is now the middle of the piece. Once the problem developed we dumped the FCP User Data and the FCP plist but the problem stil existed. We decided to do this again, just for laughs, and strangely enough, that fixed the problem. Not sure why the first dump did not do the trick, but the second one did. Go figure. Thanks,by Delphinus - Café LA Re: HDV Import into FCP 7 - 10 years agoI attempted digitizing from two separate HDV camcorders with the same problem, after I cleaned the heads on both. I still am having problems digitizing. When I play the video while in the digitize window, it plays fine. But when I mark an in and an out and actually initiate digitizing, the picture stutters, goes out of sync with the audio, then freezes and gives the message.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: HDV Import into FCP 7 - 10 years agoAdditional info: Tapes that digitized perfectly before now have the same problem. Here's the message I get when digitizing stops: STREAM PROBLEM Capture was stopped due to aproblem with the incoming stream. This might be a problem with the tape. All media up to this point has been preserved.by Delphinus - Café LA HDV Import into FCP 7 - 10 years agoI have been shooting HDV and importing it into FCP 7 with no problems until today. The tape plays perfectly in two HDV camcorders and the audio is fine too. But when I try digitizing it into FCP using HDV1080i24 or 50, the CAPTURE image stutters the picture and the BROWSER, instead of digitizing the entire clip, will digitize 10 seconds, then 15 seconds, then 10 seconds, etc. and label them Untiby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Getting timecode audio in DSR-20 - 10 years agoMy apologies for the premature email. I figured out the situation. I dumped the Final Cut Pro User Data and everythin returned to normal. Thanks, guys.by Delphinus - Café LA |
