Mike, Not everyone has that "high speed" connection (you be surprised how many outside of LA). I worked with a clueless client still on a 56k dialup. Gotta take care of those guys, too

Clients for the most part are not tech-saavy. Even if you post a link to a posted server, your client will still have to download 63 megs to view it and if they have a dial-up modem, it's just gonna pi$$ them off because it will take forever... I do this everyday - at least 3 times a day: I squash aprox. 850 MB :30 second commercials (Uncompressed 4:2:2) down to 320 x 240 / 29.97 fps / 22khz -

I use it everyday for Broadcast TV Commercial output to DigiBeta. VERY high quality - it just works great. If you are doing HD, look at the Kona2 card. If not (just BetaSP & DV), then the Aja IO is the perfect solution. - Joey

...agree with recording room tone onset for EACH SETUP (especially if they are in different acoustical locations). I can't believe your sound guy didn't even suggest it... pretty much standard for any professional shoot. I would go back to your location (or a similar one) and record live room tone. To address the original post... sounds like you want an Avid DS ($145,000). You just expect waaaaay too much out of a $1000 editing package...I don't think you understand what FCP is. Ray, Did you have a brownout or blackout recently? Humor me...Try unplugging your Computer from the wall, you FW drive from the computer and also from the wall for 10 minutes - no more, no less. The FW bus fuses reset themselves and my LaCie came back after I did this. - Joey

It looks likes a corrupt Compressor. Did you try Uninstalling FCP? There is a document on the Apple site that lists all the items that have to be deleted. It's FCP4, but I would try it.

No, man...LA is ridiculous in the Real Estate market. I would love to live, work & attend LAFCPUG meetings in LA, but it's out of our price range. The older you get and the bigger your family gets, the harder it is to make a cross-country move. Definitely getting out of "Hurricane Alley", though - soon. LA / Hollywood - once a dream...now gone. ...please get out. Hurricane Dennis is a CAT4 - 10 mph less than a CAT5 (155 mph sustained winds - catastrophic structural damage). We were lucky this time in Orlando...
